Getting your customers email address is the key component to communicating with them but how do you gather their addresses? Here's some ideas:

• Ask them.  when they make a purchase, or sign up to your service, ask them "What's your email address?"  It's so simple but is often overlooked.
• Run a competition.  Run a promotional competition to go into the draw to win an ipad and gather email addresses.
• Offer free advice through your website, the only condition being that you need their email address to get it.  Great for educating your customer too!
• Gather the good old business card at networking events and ask them if they'd like to be kept in touch with what's happening in your business.
• Start a group on facebook and gather emails from the users interacting with your group.
